Photographer of Bird
Amitava Nath is a Bird photographer from Kolkata. He started his bird photographer hobby at 1990. Better say, he is not just a bird photographer who took is as a hobby. Bird photography is his passion. But there is a story behind Amitava Nath's becoming bird photographer. He was a student of Biological Science and participated in an zoological excursion conducted by his university to Buxa Fort in Dooars. Here he saw a Rufous Hornbill feeding his partner from out side the nest. The nest was as all know almost sealed and the female was inside. As he didn't have a good camera, he couldn't capture this beautiful moment, but that moment as he said, he decided to be a bird photographer. And thus his journey as bird photographer began.
India is a home of more than 1,250 species of birds. Observing birds in their natural habitat is a popular sport that developed almost entirely in the 20th century. Modern bird watching was made possible largely by the development of the optical aids, particularly binoculars, which enabled people to observe and study birds without harming them. Photographing birds is a real challenge. One can take very captivating images of birds while perched. But that is only a snap of the bird. As a bird photographer he always get satisfaction when he can take a photograph of a bird who is showing some kind of action. In his opinion "A really good photograph of a flying bird or a while a bird in some action make the photographer proud of the result".
Amitava Nath is not only a bird photographer. He is a bird watcher also. Since 1990 he is travelling to not only different bird sanctuaries but almost every parts of India.
